Indications related to the self-locking bolts and nuts

Put the auxiliary brake actuation lever in the position "0"

Turn the ignition OFF

Remove the cover/stirrup on the gearbox

 Only semi-towing vehicles.

Drain the oil from the retarder

Inspect the drive shaft, and the gearbox output flange

 The drive shaft plain side or the gearbox flange must be faced to the retarder (15).

6.1

Remove the drive shaft

Vehicles with output flange with diameter 200 mm combined with a power take-off MB 123, MB 124 and MB 125.

6.2

Remove the drive shaft only in the gearbox flange

Vehicles with output flange of 200 mm without power take-off or with power take-off MB 121 or MB 131.

Drain the coolant only in the heat exchanger (1)

 Collect the coolant in a proper container.

Install: Refuel with coolant:



Partially drain the oil from the gearbox



De-pressurize the compressed air system in the secondary consumers

Remove the electrical connector (5) from the coolant temperature sensor (B65)

Remove the cables clamps from the coolant temperature sensor (B65)

Remove the return hose (2) and move it over the coolant return pipe (3)

 Collect the coolant in a proper container.



Release the clamp (7) from the output pipe (6)

Remove the output hose (8) and move it over the coolant output pipe (6)

 Collect the coolant in a proper container.



Remove the electrical connector (10) from the proportional valve (Y114)

Remove the support (11) from the compressed air piping

Remove the compressed air piping connection (12) from the valve block (Y114)

 In the proportional valve (Y114) valve block, only compressed air connections “VOSS 232" must be used.

Remove the electrical connector (13) from the oil of the temperature sensor (B66)

Remove the electrical harness cables clamps

Position the gearbox plate (14) on the lifter

 Gearbox plate (14) with support surface in rubber.

Immobilize the retarder, (15) with a proper strap, by the gearbox plate (14)

22

Remove the attachment bolts from the retarder (16) and the nuts (17)

 At the moment of the installation: Install new bolts (16) and new nuts (17).



Close the holes of the bolts (16) on the right side with sealing product.

Remove the (15)

 At the moment of the installation: Apply long duration grease on the seal ring (18).

Check the threaded pin in the gearbox for tightening and replace if necessary.

Apply chemical locking in the threaded pin thread and install the (15) in the gearbox.
