Measure the valve recess

Should the obtained measurement not be within the recommended values:

Rework or replace the valve or the valve seat.

Support the cylinder head (8) on the fastening device (12), and install the valve assembly tool (11).



Press the valve spring retainer (2) down with the valve assembly tool (11) and remove the valve keepers (1)

Check the valve keepers (1) for condition, should it be necessary, replace them.

Relieve the load on the device (11) and remove the spring retainer (2), the springs (3) and (5) and the spring spacer washers (4)

Rotate the cylinder head (8) and lift out the valves (9) and (10).

Oil the valve stem with engine oil.

Remove the seals (6) and the thrust washers (7).

Install new seals (6) at assembly.

Check the valve guides for wear

In case of irregularities, replace the valve guide.

Check the valves (9) and (10) for dimensions and condition

Replace the valves presenting wear in the keeper grooves, damage on the valve ends and chipped chromium layers or burnt seats.

If necessary, rework the valve.

Checking the valve seat for condition

In the case of slight deformation on the seat surface, it is possible to rework the seat, provided the distance from the valve to the cylinder head (valve recess), after machining, is greater or equal the minimum permissible.

If necessary, rework the seat.

If necessary, replace the seat insert.

Check the pressure of springs (3) and (5) .
