 Since approx. Q3/2014, vehicles have been equipped with oil separators with an open crankcase ventilation system as standard.
On vehicles built during the transition period from Q2/2014 to Q4/2014, a check must be made directly at the vehicle to establish whether an oil separator with closed crankcase ventilation system or an oil separator with open crankcase ventilation system is installed.

4.1

Convert both diesel particulate filters.

 Vehicles with generation II exhaust gas aftertreatment units have only one temperature sensor on the front side. On these vehicles, the small empty sleeves available do not fit so the diesel particulate filters must be converted here.

 As a diesel particulate filter is no longer required after the conversion, both diesel particulate filter elements must be "scooped out" as per the work instructions, i.e. the filter substrate must be removed and the resulting empty sleeves (3) installed again.

Remove both diesel particulate filters and replace with empty sleeves (3).

 It is essential to order two empty sleeves (3) as the package contents contain only one. Items are returned under the part number of the empty sleeves (3). Only purchasing of the empty sleeves (3) gives entitlement to return the old diesel particulate filters.
Old parts must be placed together with the lead seal in the corrosion protection packaging and sealed using a cable tie. Refund values are only paid out if the old parts are mechanically undamaged, are not disassembled and do not exhibit excessive corrosion. Set data of operating fluids.

 As a result of the conversion, there are changes to the maintenance routine, e.g. due to the absence of the diesel particulate filters.
In the onboard computer, the engine oil quality and the fuel grade must be changed under operating fluids so that the operating fluids correspond to those used or predominantly used.
The maintenance system then automatically adapts the service dates.
The setting can be made via the onboard computer (see the owner's manual) or XENTRY.
