Remove/install

Release camshaft sprockets (6, 7) from the camshafts (8, 9) and place piston of cylinder 1 to ignition TDC.

 Do not remove camshaft sprocket (6, 7) from camshafts (8, 9).

Remove oil filter housing.

Remove fuel high-pressure pump.

Remove timing case cover.

 The crankshaft must not turn when the vibration damper is being removed.

Remove camshaft sprockets (6, 7) and completely remove timing chain (1).

Check basic position of balancing shaft

 Installation: Check basic position of balance shaft.

Pull slide rail pins out of both cylinder heads.

 Installation: Screw suitable screws into the slide rail pins, drive slide rail pins into the cylinder heads, and remove screws again.

Remove bearing pin (12) and remove tensioning rail (3) downward.

Remove bearing pin (10) and remove slide rail (4).

 Bearing pin, slide rail to crankcase

Remove bearing pin (11) and remove slide rail (5) downward.

Remove bearing pin (13), press chain tensioner of the oil pump chain (14) upward against the spring force, and remove slide rail (2) downward.

Unhook chain tensioner of the oil pump chain (14) from the slide rail (2).

Only if a new slide rail (2) is installed.

Install in the reverse order
