Remove engine with transmission.

Attach engine to assembly stand.



Remove front cover (1).

Remove the A/C compressor(A9).

Remove the alternator (G2).

Remove coolant pump (4).

Remove guide pulley and tensioning device of poly-V-belt.

Remove belt pulley/vibration damper.

Remove guide tube (5).

Remove coolant line (6) at timing case cover (10).

Remove oil pan (7).

Disconnect electrical connector of engine oil pump valve at timing case cover (10).

Disconnect electrical connector of engine oil pump valve at oil pump.

Unclip electric line of engine oil pump valve (Y130) at timing case cover (10).

When replacing timing case cover (10).

 Installation: Replace sealing ring.

Remove bolts (8) of cylinder head (9) at timing case cover (10).

 Bolt, cylinder head to timing case cover

Unscrew bolts (10s) of timing case cover (10).

 Observe bolt plan for timing case cover (10).

 Installation: Pay attention to different screw/bolt lengths and screw/bolt diameters.

Remove timing case cover (10).

Notes on sealant path for timing case cover

 Installation: Apply sealant to sealing surface of timing case cover (10). Observe notes on sealant path.

 Installation: Replace front radial shaft sealing ring (11).

Remove seal of guide tube (5), replace if necessary.

When replacing timing case cover (10).

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces.

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

Install in the reverse order.

Check engine oil level and correct if necessary.



Check cooling system for leaks.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run and check engine for leak tightness.
