Remove/install

Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key

Remove poly-V belt

Open service flap on fender liner in right front fender

Rotate engine at center bolt (1) to TDC

If necessary.

Install retaining lock for crankshaft/starter ring gear

Remove center bolt (1)

 Installation: Install new center bolt (1).

Detach belt pulley/vibration damper (2) from crankshaft (3)

 Installation: Place belt pulley/vibration damper (2) on crankshaft (3) and rotate to ensure that the feather key of the crankshaft (3) is engaged in the groove (4) on the belt pulley/vibration damper (2).



Check

Check contact surface of the radial shaft sealing ring (5) on the belt pulley/vibration damper (2) hub for scoring and galling

If there are problems:



Replace belt pulley/vibration damper (2).

Remove front radial shaft sealing ring (5).

Replace front radial shaft sealing ring (5) if necessary.

Install in the reverse order



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform an engine test run and check engine for leaktightness

 Flywheel, drive plate, vibration damper, starter ring gear
