Remove/install

Remove right engine mount

Remove screws (5)

Place charge air cooler return line to one side

 Do not disconnect return line.

Disconnect electrical connections on intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/1) and exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/2)

Remove screw/bolts (1a, 1s) on front cover (1)

 Bolt, front cover to cylinder head/cylinder head cover

Carefully loosen front cover (1) at press-off points and detach from the front

Notes on sealant path for front cover to cylinder head xxx

 Installation: Apply sealant to front cover (1).

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head (2), cylinder head cover (3) and front cover (1)

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray

Remove intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/1) or exhaust camshaft solenoid ( Y49/2) from front cover (1)

Only when replacing front cover (1).

Install in the reverse order



Check

Check engine oil level and correct if necessary


