Remove/install

1

Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove the noise insulation at the front.

Remove the full-load bleed line from the oil separator.

Remove the noise insulation at the rear.

Remove the check valve.

Remove screw (5).

Unscrew the bolts (2) and place the vacuum line to one side.

Remove bolt (3) .

 Bolt, holder for high-pressure line to camshaft housing/cylinder head

Remove the bracket (6) for the engine suspension lug and place to one side.

Release and disconnect the electrical connections (4), unclip the electrical line and place to one side.

Unscrew the bolts (1) in the reverse order of the tightening procedure.

Remove the rear cover (7).


Do not forcibly insert any tools between the rear cover (7) and cylinder head.
Sealing surfaces will otherwise be damaged.

 Installation: Replace seal.

Remove the solenoid for the exhaust camshaft.

When the rear cover is replaced (7).

Remove the solenoid for the intake camshaft.

When the rear cover is replaced (7).

Check

Check the sealing surfaces on the rear cover (7) and cylinder head for damage.

If damage is present,



Replace corresponding component.

Clean

Clean the sealing surfaces on the rear cover (7) and cylinder head.


Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
Sealing surfaces will otherwise be damaged.

Loctite 7200

Install in the reverse order.

Check engine oil level and correct.



Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper leak tightness and leak tightness.
