Rear axle differential actuator motor
Overview
This document contains information on:
General
Function
Function
The rear axle differential drive unit actuates the multiplate clutch integrated in the rear axle differential. To open or close the plates, the electric motor transmits an axial force onto the plate pack via a spur gear stage and a ball ramp. The rear axle differential drive unit can be actuated irrespective of the engine speed. It can therefore be actuated while stationary.
The rear axle differential drive unit is initialized at system start. A temperature sensor and two Hall sensors are installed in the rear axle differential drive unit. The temperature sensor provides information to calculate the temperatures of the clutch and the transmission oil. The Hall sensors detect the following:
Movements of the electric motor
Rpm of electric motor
The rear axle differential drive unit is located on rear axle differential.
