1 | Secure vehicle against rolling | ||
2 | Release parking brake | To release the combination brake cylinder a reservoir pressure of at least 8 bar must be given. | |
3 | Turn brake camshaft (7) and linkage adjuster (8) back to starting position using adjustment screw (9) | Turn the adjustment screw (9) counterclockwise. Creaking noises occur when turning screw. | |
4 | Remove brake drum | ||

6 | Detach retaining ring (4) from brake camshaft (7) | ||
7 | Remove shim (5) from brake camshaft (7) | ||
8 | Remove indicator disk (6) from brake camshaft (7) | ||

9 | Force brake shoes (11) apart using suitable drifts (10) and pull out brake camshaft (7) until linkage adjuster (8) can be removed | ||

13 | Position linkage adjuster (8) on brake camshaft (7) | ||
14 | Slide in brake camshaft (7) as far as it will go | ||
15 | Install bolt (1) | It must be possible to insert pin (1) without resistance. | |
16 | Push on washer (2) and secure bolt (1) using new cotter pin (3) | ||
17 | Mount indicator disk (6) on brake camshaft (7) | The notch (arrow B) on the indicator disk (6) must be aligned with the marking (arrow A) on the brake camshaft (7). | |
18 | Position previous shim (5) on brake camshaft (7) | ||
19 | Attach retaining ring (4) to brake camshaft (7) | ||
20 | Check axial play of brake camshaft (7) | ||
If necessary, adjust using the corresponding shim (5). | |||
