Danger | Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries | No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
1 | Disconnect electric lines from the battery
2 | Open liftgate | ||
3 | Remove interior flaps above the engine and transmission
Warning | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
4 | Drain off coolant | ||
Topical note | Notes on coolant
Close stopcocks of the heating system.
5 | Remove rear bumper | ||
6 | Remove rear crossmember
7 | Remove fan support | ||
Danger | Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.
8 | Drain air conditioning system

9 | Disconnect electric lines from the A/C compressor | Lines for the pressure sensor of the low pressure and high pressure circuit and drive coupling control.
10 | Remove pressure lines of the air conditioning from the A/C compressor
11 | Remove charge air pipe above the engine
Remove all pipes up to the intake manifold.
12 | Remove air intake hose upstream of ATL
13 | Remove exhaust flex pipe
14 | Drain power steering oil
15 | Remove pressure line of the steering | Over the right transmission mount.
16 | Remove piping from the compressor to the resonator box on the transmission
17 | Disconnect hose and line connections
18 | Disconnect electrical connectors for the Linnig fan and alternator II control
19 | Raise vehicle | ||
Use a pit if necessary. | |||
20 | Remove lower engine compartment paneling
21 | Remove rear screw of the left rail for the bottom engine compartment lining | As a result, it is no longer necessary to remove the left engine mount completely.
22 | Remove boost pressure hose from exhaust gas turbocharger
23 | Remove cross strut underneath the coupling housing
24 | Remove left heater pipe
25 | Remove clutch booster
Perform only the operation steps to remove the clutch booster from the transmission.
26 | Remove tappet for actuating the clutch release fork | Removal is necessary so that the release bearing can slide out of the clutch release fork when being disconnected from the engine and transmission.
Installation: | |||
| |||
Remove/install release bearing
27 | Remove screws of the coupling housing with the bracket for the bottom engine wiring harness
28 | Lower muffler of the exhaust system | To do this, remove the rear left bracket completely and release and rear right bracket.
29 | Support transmission
30 | Shim engine with engine hoist
31 | Remove left engine mount from the frame
32 | Completely remove right engine mount
33 | Remove screws of the top coupling housing
34 | Disconnect engine by pulling toward the rear from the transmission
35 | Remove release bearing
36 | Install in the reverse order
37 | Pour in coolant | ||
38 | Pour in power steering oil
| |||
