Modification notes
7.12.04 | Activate electromagnetic shutoff valve, added | Step 1
Commercially available tools used, exchanged | Step 2
Screw in shutoff valves 2 to 5 turns, added | Step 3
Fully unscrew shutoff valves, added | Stage 5 |
Danger! | Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.
| Notes on handling refrigerant R134a | Air conditioning with refrigerant R134a | |
1 | Activate electromagnetic shutoff valve | If available.
Depending on the model and the version, the electromagnetic shutoff valve has to be activated in order to be able to fully evacuate the refrigerant from the system. Usually, the electromagnetic shutoff valve is located between the fluid reservoir and the expansion valve.

| Cable for activation of solenoid | All models | |
2 | Connect pressure and suction line of air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit to the pressure-side testing and filling valve (1) and to the suction-side testing and filling valve (2) | Observe the operator's manual of the air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit.
| |||
3 | Screw in pressure-side shutoff valve (3) and suction-side shutoff valve (4) approx. 2 to 5 turns | The pressure-side shutoff valve (3) and the suction-side shutoff valve (4) are located below the protective caps.
4 | Extract refrigerant via the pressure-side testing and filling valve (1) and the suction-side testing and filling valve (2) | Observe the following: Slowly open the valves at the pressure gauge of the air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit. Observe the indication on the display of the air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit. Extract the refrigerant until no further weight gain of the extracted refrigerant can be detected.
5 | Fully unscrew pressure-side shutoff valve (3) and suction-side shutoff valve (4)
6 | Switch off air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit, remove suction and pressure line |
