 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel.

No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Remove

Place collecting pan under fuel prefilter.

Open drain valve (10) and vent screw (6) and let fuel filter element (2) run empty.

Detach electrical connection (9).

Unscrew fuel filter element (2).

Unscrew separator (3) from fuel filter element (2).

Remove sealing ring (8).



Check

Check separator (3) for damage.

If there is a problem,



Replace separator (3).



Clean

Clean separator (3).

 Make sure that the groove of the sealing ring (8) is clean.

Clean intake filter screen in fuel tank.



Install

Install new sealing ring (8) and coat with engine oil.

Screw separator (3) onto fuel filter element (2) and tighten by hand.


Tools must not be used to tighten the separator (3).
Otherwise there are leaks as a result of crack formation at the separator (3).

Coat sealing ring (4) with engine oil.

Screw fuel filter element (2) with new sealing ring (4) onto filter head (1) and tighten by hand.


Tools must not be used to tighten the fuel filter element (2).
Otherwise there are leaks as a result of deformation of the sealing ring (4).

Close drain valve (10).

Connect electrical connector (9).

Operate hand pump (7) until fuel exits bubble-free at the vent screw (6).

Close vent screw (6).

Start engine and bleed fuel system.

 See information from body manufacturer.
Run engine for approx. 1 minute. The fuel system is ventilated automatically.



Check

Check fuel prefilter for leak tightness with engine running.

 Visual inspection.

20

Switch off engine.
