2 | Check lining thickness of brake pads in brake caliper | Check the outer brake pads through the top wheel wrench opening (arrow). To illuminate the visual field hold a hand lamp or flashlight at the wheel wrench opening. Check the inner brake pads from the vehicle underside: | |
Lift/jack up vehicle | |||
If the brake lining thickness of the brake pad is approaching the brake lining wear limit, all brake pads must be checked by removing the wheels. | |||
If the front brake lining thickness is under the brake lining wear limit, the front axle brake pads must be replaced. | |||
Remove/install wheels | |||
Brake lining wear limit | |||
If the rear brake lining thickness is under the brake lining wear limit, the rear axle brake pads must be replaced. | |||
Remove and fit rear wheels | |||
Brake lining wear limit | |||
In the event of single-sided brake wear, the brake caliper (axle by axle) must be checked for condition and ease of movement by removing the wheels. | |||
