 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine

 Apply parking brake. Allow engine to run for Approx.. 1 min. at idle speed.

Shift through all selector lever positions

 Operate service brake. Remain with the selector lever in each position for Approx.. 20 s. Then shift the transmission back to position "N".

Check transmission oil level in display on the selector lever console

 Add missing transmission oil through oil filler pipe (9), see operation steps 5 to 9.

 If the transmission oil level is too high, the excess amount of automatic transmission fluid must be drained off, see operation steps 10 to 12.

Turn off engine

Pour in

Release cover (8) and pull out of oil filler pipe (9)

Insert funnel into the opening of the oil filler pipe (9)

Add missing quantity of automatic transmission fluid

Insert cover (8) into oil filler pipe (9) and tighten

 Wipe off cover (8) using a lint-free rag.

Inspect transmission oil level

 See operation steps 1 to 4.

Draining

Unscrew one or more screw plugs (7) and drain automatic transmission fluid

 Unscrew one or more screw plugs (7), until the excess amount of automatic transmission fluid has drained off.
Drain automatic transmission fluid into a measuring vessel with a measuring scale.

Screw in screw plug (7)

 Replace seal.

 Screw plug, test connection to transmission housing
