Service Information: Notes on exchanging the pump module (AdBlue)

We would like to point out that when replacing the pump module (1) on certain vehicles the parts specified in the following table have to be ordered at the same time and the additional operations have to be carried out.

This is necessary as design changes have been carried out on the AdBlue return flow connection (3) and at the fixing thread (2) of the pump module (1).

When replacing the pump module (1), with immediate effect it has to be checked which is the part number of the pump module (1) to be replaced. The part number is visible on the plastic housing.

The new pump module (1) with the part number:

 A 000 140 04 78

will be fitted in series production as of August 2006 and is also made available as a replacement part as of this point in time via the GLC [Global Logistics Center].

If the new pump module (1) is already fitted to a vehicle, in the case of repair only the pump module (without additional parts) has to be replaced.

If a pump module (1) with one of the following part numbers is fitted:

 A 000 140 01 78

 A 000 140 02 78

 A 000 140 03 78

in addition the parts listed in the following table must be ordered at the same time and exchanged.

 It is necessary to replace the bracket as otherwise the plastic housing of the pump module (1) can pull in during assembly in the larger through-holes of the previous bracket.

If on individual vehicles the replacement of the bracket is too costly, as an alternative shims
(N 000000 003333) can be installed between the bracket and the pump module .
