The power steering pump pressure regulator valve is a proportional solenoid with 2-pin plug connection.

Depending on the steering angle, vehicle speed and steering speed the power steering pump pressure regulator valve is actuated depending on a characteristic map with a PWM signal (pulse width modulated signal) from the ME control unit (N3/10).

The ME control unit receives the information on the steering status and vehicle speed from the ESP and BAS control unit (N47-5) via the CAN data bus.
