Warning

Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing the TIREFIT emulsion. Risk of injury caused by skin contact and eye contact with the TIREFIT emulsion. Risk of fire caused by ignition of the TIREFIT emulsion

Do not swallow or come into contact with the TIREFIT tire sealant, which is an emulsion of rubber and terpene phenolic resin. No open flames or open light sources.

Detach

1

Carefully unscrew valve element from valve (1) or valve body (2) and vent tire pressure

On vehicles where the tire was filled with TIREFIT tire sealant, any fluid remains of the TIREFIT tire sealant must be suitably collected when deflating the tire.

2

Remove all mounted balance weights (3)

WS40.00-P-0006B

Do not position on the tire side wall, but on the bead flank only.
Otherwise, the carcass may be damaged.

Model 251
with code 475 (Tyre pressure monitoring system)
Do not damage the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) with the bead breaker shovel.

4

Pry inside and outside of tire over the safety bead seats of the disk wheel

Model 251
with code 475 (Tyre pressure monitoring system)
Do not damage the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).

On vehicles equipped with a collapsible spare wheel, the spare wheel with tire is only available as an assembly part. Replace the complete collapsible spare wheel only. On a damaged collapsible spare wheel, remove the tire and dispose of it separately from the disk wheel.

Check

10

Check condition of disk wheel

AR40.10-P-1010-01A

Clean disk wheel if necessary, while doing so the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) (if present) should not come into contact with compressed air, solvents or cleaners.

11

Check TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4), valve body (2) and seal (6) for damage

Model 251
with code 475 (Tyre pressure monitoring system)

Do not remove the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) to check it. Remove any soiling on TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) with a clean, lint-free cloth only.

Do not retighten the bolt (4) (internal Torx bolt) and union nut (7).

Replace TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4), when the:
Bolt (4) or union nut (7) of TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) is visibly loose.
TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) is visibly damaged.
TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) is older than 7 years according to the manufacturing date (8).
TIREFIT tire sealant was filled.

If the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) shows signs of damage.

Replace TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).

WS40.00-P-0006B

Model 251
with code 475 (Tyre pressure monitoring system)
Position the disk wheel so that the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) is located approx. 180° opposite the mounting head. Do not apply any compressive forces to the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise, the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) will be damaged.

Note running direction for unidirectional tires.

Put as little stress as possible on bead area.

16

Align light spots of tires and disk wheel with each other and remove disk wheel with tire from tire mounting device

WS40.00-P-0006B

17

Inflate tire to max. 3 bar

Inflate tire without the valve element.

The tire must slide evenly over the safety bead seat of the disk wheel, otherwise coat the tire bead with mounting paste again. Ensure that the tire is seated evenly along the disk circumference.

18

Screw valve insert promptly into valve (1) or valve body (2) and tighten

Model 251
with code 475 (Tyre pressure monitoring system)
Use a genuine, corrosion-protected (nickel-plated) valve element only.

19

Set tire pressure to specified value

Note vehicle tire inflation information (e.g. on fuel filler flap).

Model 251
with code 475 (Tyre pressure monitoring system)
Only use valve caps made of plastic.
