| Remove/install | ||
Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
1 | Place the vehicle on the lift so that it is safely supported on the elevator support plates
2 | Disconnect the negative battery cable or turn off the main switch
3 | Remove the wheels |
| |
If using the appropriate lift, the removal of the wheels is not necessary.
4 | Depressurize the pneumatic system to remove the pressure from the bellows | Only when removing all armatures.
5 | Loosen the dampers from the rear driven axle |
| |
Excess stroke of the dampers may damage them inside.
6 | Lift the rear driven axle so that the armatures are not stressed
7 | Loosen the screws and nuts (7), the screws (6), and remove the rear right (1) and rear left (2) lower longitudinal armatures | Do not change the adjustment length of the LH adjustable armature (1). Any necessary adjustment will be made after final assembly while aligning the vehicle axles.
Installation: If necessary, move the rear driven axle with the lift until the joint articulation shafts (5) of the armature pads match the holes on the brackets fixed to the structure (8).
.Bolts and nuts with flange on the stringers of the lower control arm supports of the rear axle conducted
. E.2 Basic dimension of the rear axle's adjustable longitudinal tensioning bar (left side)
8 | Loosen the flange screws of the rear fastening of the fixed bars on the driven axle brackets (5), self-locking nuts fitted into the recesses on the inside of the support integrated in the driven axle (6) and external fixing screws flange nuts of the upper bars on the rear (6.1), the screws with fixing flange for the armatures on the brackets on the front (4) and remove the two fixed upper longitudinal rear armatures (1) from the driven rear axle | Removal and tightening must be done by the flange screws of the rear fixing of the armatures on the external axle supports (5).
Lubricate all threads with a light coat of grease.
Installation: If necessary, with the vehicle supported by the framework, move the rear driven axle with the lift until the axles (2) of the joints of the oscillating rubber buffers match the holes in the rear fixture brackets of the armatures integrated in the rear driven axle (7).
Installation: Tighten the flanged screws (4, 5) to the final torque.
Grease, DB supply specification 6804 - Class 267.0
.Nuts and bolts with flange of tensioning arms higher and lower of the rear axle conducted
| Clean | ||
9 | Clean all the components of the armatures | Clean the mounting and joint brackets.
| Check | ||
10 | Inspect all components of the armatures and the support on the brackets and the axle
Replace: | |||
| |||
Damaged or deformed armatures.
Damaged eyelets on terminals.
Lower brackets in poor condition.
11 | Inspect the condition of the oscillating rubber buffers of the armature joint | Remove/install elastomer bearing on transverse control arm
Measuring and adjusting
12 | If necessary, adjust the distribution and length of the armature components | Adjust the lower left longitudinal armature (1) or the adapters on the end pieces of the adjustable armature (9), if they are replaced.
Slightly lubricate the threads of the terminals (9) to prevent oxidation.
During assembly, attend the dimensions.

. D basic measurement to mount the terminals (adapters) on the adjustable lower control arm center rod, (prior to the adjustment)
. E.2 Basic dimension of the rear axle's adjustable longitudinal tensioning bar (left side)
13 | To adjust the left armature, loosen the self-locking nuts (3) on the screws (4) from the clamps, and turn the adapters at the ends of the armature until obtaining the basic dimension (E.2) | After validating the basic dimension (E.2), tighten the new self-locking nuts (3) on the screws (4) of the clamps.
.Self-clinching nuts for adjustable control arm clamps (once adjusted) of the rear drag axle
14 | Install in reverse order
Check | |||
15 | Start and completely pressurize the pneumatic system | Check any evidence of leaks at the bellows of the rear driven axle.
16 | Check all steering adjustment values on the front axle and rear axles corresponding to the vehicle | use a suitable updated alignment device.
17 | If necessary, adjust the axle alignment values, adjust the lower rear LH armature | To adjust the lower LH armature mounted on the vehicle, release the clamps and rotate the central rod of the armature (1) via the central rectangle. After obtaining the alignment dimension, gently return the key to relieve the pressure on the oscillating rubber buffers. Check the values on the equipment and tighten the self-locking nuts (3) on the screws (4) of the clamps.
.Self-clinching nuts for adjustable control arm clamps (once adjusted) of the rear drag axle
18 | Run a test drive and check the vehicle behavior |
