Entire function of Electronic Diesel Cntrol (EDC)
- Controlling the quantity of fuel injected and start of delivery of the control sleeve injection pump of the intercooled
V engine 441 LA (6-cylinder) or 442 LA (8-cylinder).
- Vehicle and engine control functions are performed by the main components and their respective peripherals.
- EDC functions when engine is stationary, when engine started and when driving (emergency driving mode).
Main components of the EDC
Vehicle-engine control (FMR) control unit
Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) control unit
Control sleeve injection pump
Functions of the EDC main components
Vehicle-engine control (FMR) control unit
Peripherals: sensors for driver control inputs
Receiving and processing control inputs which are stored or set in the control unit (e.g., idle speed, vehicle speed limit) or which come from the driver (e.g., accelerator pedal, Tempomat, engine brake).
Passing on the processed control input through the data face (CAN data bus) to the EDC control electronics. Checking that the control inputs have been performed by means of feedback signal.
Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) control unit
Peripherals: sensors of control-relevant engine data
Receiving and processing the following data signals:
-Engine data signals (e.g., engine speed, service product temperature) by means of sensors
-Feedback sensors of injection pump
-Data of FMR electronics
Computing optimal quantity injected, electric actuation and monitoring of control sleeve injection pump.
Control sleeve injection pump
Peripherals: sender and sensor components
-Converting the signal supply by the EDC control unit into control of the fuel quantity and of start of delivery.
-Feedback signal to the EDC control unit
