 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

1

Remove refrigerant lines from expansion valve.

Release air filter housing (5) and remove from working area.

Disconnect coolant hoses (4).

 Clamp

Remove coolant hoses (4) from fitting (3).

 Collect escaping coolant using a suitable collecting pan.

 Hose clamp pliers

Seal all connection immediately with clean protective covers.

Remove crossmember under instrument panel.

Disconnect electrical connector (6) from PTC heater booster (7) and remove PTC heater booster (7) with attached electric lines from air conditioner housing (1).

Detach hose (8) from blower housing (2).

Pull hose (10) out of floor panel.

 Installation:
Check for correct seating of hose (10) on air conditioner housing (1) and on the floor panel.
Otherwise condensation may get into the vehicle interior.

Remove air conditioner housing (1) with blower housing (2) and remove from vehicle.

Install in the reverse order.

Pour in coolant and bleed engine cooling system.

Check

Check engine cooling system for leak tightness.

Perform function test of heating.

Run function test of air conditioning system.
