Remove/install washer fluid reservoir of windshield washer system

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Reduce pressure in cooling system

 To do this, turn expansion reservoir cap to notch "1" and re-close.

Remove rear section of fender liner in right front fender

Pull out windshield washer fluid pump (M5/1) and HCS (SRA) pump (M5/2) complete with hoses and electrical connections upward and out of washer fluid reservoir (1)

 Collect washer fluid which flows out.

 Installation: Check rubber grommets on windshield washer fluid pump (M5/1) and HCS (SRA) pump (M5/2), replace if necessary.

Disconnect connecting pipe (4) from filler neck (2), then push connecting pipe (4) into washer fluid reservoir (1)

 Detach filler neck (2) by turning at the connecting pipe (4).

Detach coolant hoses (5) from washer fluid heater (6)

For vehicles with code (875) Heated windshield washer system, if coolant hoses (5) are secured with clamps (picture A).

 Identify coolant hoses (5) for washer fluid heater (6). Collect coolant which flows out.

 Installation: Check coolant hoses (5) and clamps for damage, replace if necessary.

Detach coolant hoses (5) from washer fluid heater (6) using detaching tool (7)

For vehicles with code (875) Heated windshield washer system, if coolant hoses (5) are secured with quick-release fittings (picture B).

 Identify coolant hoses (5) for washer fluid heater (6). Collect coolant which flows out.

 Installation: Check coolant hoses (5) for damage, replace if necessary.



Disconnect electrical connector at the switch of the windshield washer system fluid level control (S42)

Unscrew bolt (3)

Take out washer fluid reservoir (1)

Install in the reverse order

Check coolant level, correct if necessary
