Remove/install

1

Remove upper engine cover.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove diesel injection system control unit with lines connected and place to one side.

Unclip vacuum line (1) at right air filter housing and place to side.

Open retaining clamps (2).

Remove screws of left and right air filter housing.

Separate electrical connectors (4) at hot film mass air flow sensors (10) of clean air line (3).

Loosen left and right air filter housing at clean air line (3).

 Installation:
Ensure correct installation position of seals between clean air line (3) and left and right air filter housing.
Otherwise, damage occurs to seals.

Release clamp (5).

 Clamp, clean air line to turbocharger

Pull clean air line (3) forwards off exhaust gas turbocharger (6).


Do not tension, compress or separate flexible boots at clean air line (3).
Damage will occur otherwise.

Remove hose (8) at clean air line (3).

Remove clean air line (3).

Seal opening on exhaust gas turbocharger (6) with suitable protective cover (7).

Check

Check clean air line (3) for damage.

If there is a problem,



replace clean air line (3).

Check clamp (5) and seal (9) for damage.

If there is a problem,



replace clamp (5) or seal (9).

Check seal between clean air line (3) and left air filter housing for damage.

If there is a problem,



Install new gasket.

Check seal between clean air line (3) and right air filter housing for damage.

If there is a problem,



Install new gasket.

Install in the reverse order

Read out and delete fault memory, and perform initialization of hot film mass air flow sensors (10).

If clean air line (3) and hot film mass air flow sensors (10) are replaced.



Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check engine for leaks in area of clean air line (3).
