Remove/install

Remove exhaust gas recirculation cooler

Remove mixing chamber

Remove screws (3)

 Place fuel and vacuum lines to one side.

 Danger

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel.

No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Loosen and detach fuel hose (4) on high-pressure pump

Remove screw/bolts (5, 6) and lay holder (7) to the side with wiring harness

 Bolt, exhaust gas recirculation valve bracket to exhaust gas recirculation valve

 Bolt, exhaust gas recirculation valve bracket to cylinder crankcase

Disconnect electrical connector (8) on exhaust gas recirculation actuator (Y27/9)

Remove vacuum hose (9)

Remove screw/bolt (10) and exhaust gas recirculation actuator (Y27/9) with bypass flap for exhaust gas recirculation

 Installation:
Replace seals.
Leaks may occur otherwise.

 Bolt, exhaust gas recirculation valve (valve housing) to exhaust gas recirculation line

Install in the reverse order



Check cooling system for leaktightness
