The heater enables a pleasant interior climate for the vehicle passengers in the event of different weather conditions.

The desired heat quantity in the vehicle interior is set with the integrated temperature selector switch in the climate control control and operating unit (heater operating unit). The temperature requirement in the vehicle interior is increased or lowered by turning the temperature selector switch down or up.

Depending on the desired heat quantity, the position of the blend air and lock-up flap can be mechanically adjusted via cables. This in turn regulates the air volume of fresh air or recirculated air which is routed over the heated front heat exchanger.

It is not possible to cool the fresh or recirculated air via the climate control control and operating unit (heater operating unit).

In order to accelerate the raising or lowering of the temperature, the output of the front blower motor (M4) can be adjusted via the blower knurled wheel switch in 5 stages and the air distribution is set via the air recirculation mode and air distribution rotary switch.

When the operating temperature of the engine has not been reached or lowers due to deceleration mode, the heater booster (with code (HZ9) Heater booster, diesel) warms up the coolant using the warm water auxiliary heater control unit (E90) in order to guarantee rapid warming up of the vehicle interior and engine.
