Engine M104.900 is a combination between a V and 6-cylinder inline engine. As a result of its very narrow V angle of 15° between the banks of cylinders, the engine is able to make do with only one cylinder head.
This completely novel engine concept in Mercedes engine design, enables the engine to be installed transversely in model 638.2 as a result of its compact design.
