Remove

Secure vehicle against rolling

Turn brake camshaft (6) and linkage adjuster (4) back to starting position using adjustment screw (5)

 Turn the adjustment screw (5) counterclockwise. Creaking noises occur when turning screw.

Remove pin (1)

Detach retaining ring (9) from brake camshaft (6)

Remove shim (8) from brake camshaft (6)

Remove indicator disk (7) from brake camshaft (6)



Remove linkage adjuster (4) from brake camshaft (6)

Detach spacer washer from brake camshaft (6)

 The spacer washer is not shown in the graphic. It is located between linkage adjuster (4) and bearing bracket.



Install

Slide spacer washer onto brake camshaft (6)

 The spacer washer is not shown in the graphic. It is located between linkage adjuster (4) and bearing bracket.

Slide linkage adjuster (4) onto brake camshaft (6)

Install bolt (1)

 It must be possible to insert pin (1) without resistance.

Push on washer (2) and secure bolt (1) using new cotter pin (3)

Mount indicator disk (7) on brake camshaft (6)

 The notch (arrow B) on the indicator disk (7) must be aligned with the marking (arrow A) on the brake camshaft (6).

Position previous shim (8) on brake camshaft (6)

Attach retaining ring (9) to brake camshaft (6)

Measure axial play of brake camshaft between retaining ring (9) and shim (8)

 The thickness of the shim (8) is determined in this way.
Shims (8) are available in thicknesses ranging from 3.0 to 7.5 mm in steps of 0.5 mm.
