Modification notes
| Removing | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases, even sever extremities | No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components.
Danger! | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.
| Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | All models | |
| While working on the rear axle, care must be taken to ensure that the surface of aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected | ||
1 | Securely attach vehicle to the two-post lift using the lifting platform safety device | Lifting platform retainer
2 | Raise vehicle using two-post lift | Raise to half height.
Two-post lifting platform 3.0-3.5 t, electromechanical
3 | Remove rear wheel | ||
| Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary | ||
4 | Remove bolts (2) from the stabilizer bar retaining clamp (6)
5 | Remove bolt (4) of tie rod (1)
6 | Using a colored pencil mark the position at the cam of the bolt (3) (arrow A) | The marking on the eccentric is used for approximate positioning (original adjustment) of the tie rod (1) during assembly.
7 | Lower torsion bar (7) downwards slightly (arrow B) and remove bolt (3)
8 | Remove tie rod (1) | ||
| Install | ||
9 | Insert tie rod (1) | Note the installation position!
10 | Insert bolt (3), position eccentric disk (8) and screw on a new self-locking nut (9) | The screw head points towards the direction of travel. Align the e eccentric of the bolt (3) with the marking applied beforehand (arrow A).
Do not tighten self-locking nut (9) yet
11 | Insert bolt (4) with dog bone washer (5) and screw on a new self-locking nut | The screw head points towards the direction of travel. Align dog bone washer (5) in the position shown.
Do not yet tighten self-locking nut.
12 | Position torsion bar clip (6) and insert bolts (2) | Do not tighten bolts (2) yet.
13 | Using the telescoping/transmission jack and transmission platform under the supporting joint raise the wheel suspension until the wheel suspension is deflected to the vehicle level | This brings the rubber mounts of the suspension into the neutral position.
