Remove reverse gear gearwheel (4)

Remove oil line (6)

Undo screws/bolts (3) of gearshift linkage (2) and remove gearshift linkage (2) from rear section of transmission housing (1)

Use a suitable screwdriver to make a hole in the center of both transmission covers (9), pry off the transmission covers (9) and then remove

 The transmission cover (9) for the drive shaft (7) is in two pieces.

Remove retaining ring (arrow A) of output shaft (8) and retaining ring (arrow B) of drive shaft (7)

Insert rear section of transmission housing (1), as shown, into the hydraulic press (13)

Use a suitable sleeve (11) to uniformly press the drive shaft (7) out through the opening (arrow D) and the output shaft (8) out through opening (arrow C)


Ensure that the drive shaft (7) or the output shaft (8) do not tilt or fall down.
Otherwise they may be damaged.

 Because the drive shaft (7) and the output shaft (8) are connected to each other by the shift forks (10), it is not possible to press out the drive shaft (7) or the output shaft (8) in a single pressing procedure.

Place drive shaft (7) and output shaft (8) with shift forks (10) onto workbench

Remove shift forks (10) from sliding sleeves (12) of drive shaft (7) and output shaft (8)

Remove tapered roller bearing of differential together with the radial shaft sealing ring (14, 24) and the tapered roller bearing outer rings (17, 22)

When replacing the rear section of the transmission housing (1) or the front section of the transmission housing (27).

 The tapered roller bearings and the relevant tapered roller bearing outer rings (17, 22) must always be replaced in pairs.

Undo the screws (18), remove bracket (19) and remove output shaft roller ball bearing (21) and drive shaft roller ball bearing (20)

When installing new front section of transmission housing (27).

Unscrew transmission oil drain screw (15) and transmission oil filler screw (23)

When replacing the front section of the transmission housing (27) or the rear section of the transmission housing (1).

Remove retaining ring (arrow E) of drive shaft roller bearing (26) and press out drive shaft roller bearing (26)

When replacing the rear section of the transmission housing (1).

Remove retaining ring (arrow F) of output shaft roller bearing (25) and press out output shaft roller bearing (25)

When replacing the rear section of the transmission housing (1).

Assemble

Install output shaft roller bearing (25) and fit circlip (arrow F)

When replacing the rear section of the transmission housing (1).

Install drive shaft roller bearing (26) and fit circlip (arrow E)

When replacing the rear section of the transmission housing (1).

Screw in and tighten transmission oil filler screw (15) and transmission oil drain screw (23)

When replacing the front section of the transmission housing (27) or the rear section of the transmission housing (1).

Install output shaft roller ball bearing (21) and drive shaft roller ball bearing (20), position bracket (19) and screw on using screws/bolts (18)

When installing new front section of transmission housing (27).

Install tapered roller bearing of differential together with the radial shaft sealing ring (14, 24) and the tapered roller bearing outer rings (17, 22)

When replacing the rear section of the transmission housing (1) or the front section of the transmission housing (27).

Align and position shift forks (10) on sliding sleeves (12) of drive shaft (7) and output shaft (8)

 Pay attention to installation position of shift forks (10).

Position drive shaft (7) and output shaft (8) with shift forks (10) in rear section of transmission housing (1)

Insert rear section of transmission housing (1), as shown, into the hydraulic press (13)


It must be ensured that the output shaft roller bearing (25) and the drive shaft roller bearing (26) are supported through suitable shims.
Otherwise the output shaft roller bearing (25) or drive shaft roller bearing (26) may be irreparably damaged.

Press in drive shaft (7) and output shaft (8) using a suitable sleeve (11) evenly into the rear section of transmission housing (1)


It must be ensured that the output shaft roller bearing (25) and the drive shaft roller bearing (26) are supported through suitable shims.
Otherwise the output shaft roller bearing (25) or drive shaft roller bearing (26) may be irreparably damaged.

 Because the drive shaft (7) and the output shaft (8) are connected to each other by the shift forks (10), it is not possible to press in the drive shaft (7) or the output shaft (8) in a single pressing procedure.

Remove rear section of transmission housing (1) from hydraulic press (13)

Install retaining ring (arrow A) of output shaft (8) and retaining ring (arrow B) of drive shaft (7)

Carefully insert new transmission cover (9) using a plastic mallet

 The transmission cover (9) for the drive shaft (7) is in two pieces.

Insert gearshift linkage (2) into rear section of transmission housing (1) and fasten in place using screws/bolts (3)
