5 | Measure the distance (A) from the sealing surface to the bearing housing in the center case (17) | If the distance (A) is 327.5 mm, the shim (18.1) is not installed. | |
If the distance (A) is 328.5 mm, the shim (18.1) must be installed under the outside race of the taper roller bearing (18). | |||
6 | Put the shim (18.1) over the outside race of the taper roller bearing (18) | Only if the distance (A) in the center case (17) is 328.5 mm. | |
7 | Install the outside races of the bearings (12,18), if necessary with the shim (18.1), in the center case (17) | Apply multipurpose grease on the outside race of the taper roller bearings (12, 18). | |
Utilize an appropriate drift. | |||
8 | Install the countershaft (11) in the center case (17) | ||
9 | Install the reverse gear (13) with bearing and bushing | The long collar of the reverse gear (13) must indicate to the exit side. | |
10 | Install the lifting device in the oil hole of the main shaft (20) | ||
| Lifting device to remove and install the main shaft | ||
11 | Install the shifting fork of the 1st/2nd gear (19) with the sliding pieces on the main shaft (20) | Fasten the control rail on the main shaft (20). | |
12 | Install the main shaft (20) with the lifting device in the center case (17) | Move aside the countershaft (11). | |
13 | Install the shifting fork pin of the 1st/2nd gear and of the reverse gear (16) | Apply fast drying adhesive on the shifting fork pin (16). | |

15 | Install the input shaft (22) | Apply multipurpose grease to the taper roller bearing (pilot bearing). | |
16 | Center the reverse gear (13) and install the reverse gear shaft (15) | | |

18 | Install the 3rd/4th gear shifting fork (9) with the sliding pieces and the control rail of the 3rd/4th gear (8) | ||

25 | Install the outside race of the taper roller bearings (2, 4) | Apply multipurpose grease on the outside race of the taper roller bearings (2, 4). | |

26 | Install the countershaft cover (1) and the input shaft cover (3) | ||
27 | Remove the assembly trestle (73) and place the gearbox in the horizontal | ||
28 | Install the control unit (23) | Vehicles with “mechanical" gearbox actuation. | |
29 | Install the oil throttle (69) in the main shaft (20) | ||
30 | Install the split group (14) | Based on a technical modification, the oil tube and the safety ring are no longer required. | |
31 | Install the neutral sensor (S9) | | |
32 | Install the countershaft revs sensor (B3) | | |
33 | Connect the electric wires in the connectors and on the supports | ||
34 | Install the disengagement lever | |
