Modification notes
| Remove/install | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid | Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
| Notes on coolant | All engines | |
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by fingers being pinched or crushed when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, liftgates or sliding roof | Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts.
1 | Open engine hood | ||
2 | Remove partition wall between wheel wells
3 | Remove left and right engine intake air ducts
Danger! | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.
4 | Raise vehicle with vehicle lift
5 | Remove bottom section of soundproofing | Installation: Only reinstall the bottom section of soundproofing only after engine test run.

13 | Remove the power steering oil lines (7) from radiator (1) and place to one side
14 | Undo bolt (11) for refrigerant line mounting on radiator (1)
15 | Unclip the condenser (8) of the air conditioning from mounts (9) and pull out from mounts (10) | Place condenser (8) of air conditioning down in front of radiator (1).
16 | Pull radiator (1) up and out of the rubber mounts | Installation: Ensure correct seating of rubber mounts in bottom mounts of radiator (1). Ensure bottom mounts (10) of air-conditioning system condenser (8) are correctly seated in radiator (1).
17 | Install in the reverse order
18 | Check transmission oil level and correct if necessary
19 | Check power steering oil level
| Check and correct power steering fluid level | Except model 251.020 | |
20 | Inspecting cooling system for leaks | Except model 251.020
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
21 | Conduct engine test run and check engine for leaks while it is running | In the event of oil loss, determine and eliminate cause otherwise malfunctions, transmission damage, and serious environmental pollution may occur. |
