ENGINES 384.907 in MODEL 397
ENGINES 384.906 /907 in MODEL 684
Remove grease | |||
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
| Notes on coolant | ||
1 | Drain coolant fully and collect
| Replace coolant | ||
Model 684 with engine 384
| |||
2 | Remove coolant thermostat
3 | Fill cooling system with a 5% solution of a mildly alkaline cleaner and fresh water | The specified cleaner can be used optionally. The mixing ratio is 50 g cleaner to 1 liter fresh water.
Cleaner for engine and cooling system
4 | Run engine until warm | Warm up the engine at medium rotational speed If necessary, the radiator can be covered over.
5 | Switch off engine and allow coolant temperature to cool down to approx. 70°C
6 | Drain solution fully form the cooling system | Dispose of solution in an environmentally compatible manner.
7 | Flush out cooling system | Flush cooling system 2 times with fresh water; run the engine with each flushing filling for about 5 minutes for this purpose Dispose of product in compliance with clean water requirements.
Remove scale | |||
8 | Fill cooling system with a 10% solution of water and citric, tartaric or oxalic acid. | Before removing scale, always remove grease in the cooling system even if there is no visible sign of oiling. Chromic acid or products containing chrome must not be used because of the risk of contaminating wastewater. It is preferable to use citric acid. Mixing ratio: 100 g citric acid to 1 liter fresh water.
9 | Run engine until warm | Let the engine run at medium rotational speed in driving mode until the coolant temperature reaches approx. 85°C and
10 | Switch off engine and allow coolant temperature to cool down to approx. 70°C
11 | Drain solution fully form the cooling system | Dispose of solution in an environmentally compatible manner.
12 | Flush out cooling system | Flush cooling system at least 3 times with fresh water; run engine with each flushing filling for 5 minutes for this purpose Dispose of water in an environmentally compatible manner.
13 | Install coolant thermostat
14 | Check coolant level; correct it
| Correct engine cooling system liquid level | ||
15 | Check cooling and heating system for leaks
| Cooling and heating system - check condition of radiator, lines and hoses |
