| Remove/Install | ||
Danger! | Risk of explosion due to escaping gas or overheating of compressed gas tank, while working on natural-gas vehicles. Risk of frostbite to exposed body parts from escaping natural gas or contact with components near the valves, while draining compressed gas tanks. Risk of poisioning or suffocation if natural gas is inhaled. | Remove any sources of ignition. Ensure that the work area is adequately ventilated. Wear heat-protective gloves.
1 | Close gas shutoff valves at compressed gas tanks
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
2 | Start the engine and let it run until it stops by itself. | Push extraction hose onto exhaust pipe. After engine has stopped, switch ignition off. Gas system is sufficiently drained when the engine has stopped.
Danger! | Risk of explosion due to oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns if battery electrolyte is swallowed. Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries | No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and goggles. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
3 | Disconnect ground lead from battery
| Notes on battery | All models | |
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning if coolant is swallowed. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
4 | Allow pressure in coolant circuit to escape
5 | Pinch off coolant hoses (2, 4) at pressure regulator (1)
6 | Open the hose clamps at coolant hoses (2, 4) and detach the hoses from the connection fittings | Mark the hose/connection assignment
7 | Detach high-pressure line (7)
Installation: Tighten the threaded pipe connection as specified in the instructions
8 | Detach gas hose (low pressure side) (5) | Installation: Replace sealing ring (6)
9 | Detach vent hose (3) | ||
10 | Loosen the plug connection (8) and detach electric cable of the pressure regulator from the wiring harness
11 | Remove pressure regulator (1) | Unscrew the two hexagon bolts (9) in the wheelhouse
12 | Install in the reverse order
13 | Check the gas line connections (5, 7) for leaks | Wet the connections all around with soapy suds. Switch ignition on and check the connections for bubbles |
