Remove

Remove flywheel

Press out radial shaft sealing ring (2) with the pry bar (1) and while doing so, cover the crankshaft with a suitable rag for protection

Check

3.1

Check tread of the radial shaft sealing ring (2) on the flange of the flywheel for galling

If no race is installed on the flywheel.

In the event of galling.



Install race or install new flywheel.

If a race is installed on the flywheel.

In the event of galling.



Install new race.

Clean timing case in the area of the removed radial shaft sealing ring (2) and the flywheel flange



Install

Install new radial shaft sealing ring (2)

For a flywheel with race

Use only the correct  shim of the  insertion device (3).
If, during the installation of the radial shaft sealing ring (2), an incorrect  shim is used, this can lead to leakage.

 Installation:
If a race is installed on the flywheel flange, a radial shaft sealing ring (2) with a larger inside diameter must be installed.
Otherwise, the new radial shaft sealing ring (2) will be damaged during installation of the flywheel.

 Wet radial shaft sealing ring (2) on the inner sealing lip with clean engine oil.
Install dry radial shaft sealing ring (2) on the outer surface.
