Danger! | Hazard from high voltage during electric welding. Risk of explosion from welding in the area of easily ignited substances. Risk of injury from weld spatter and UV light during welding. Risk of poisoning from inhaling weld vapors. | Use insulating bases. Wear protective clothing, eye protection and protective mask. Keep easily ignited substances away from the hazardous area. Use extraction system.
| Never start engine unless battery is properly connected (battery tightened). Never disconnect batteries when engine is running. Separate batteries from vehicle electrical system for quick-charging and refere to operating instructions of quick-charger. | ||
| Incorrect polarity of the power supply can destroy the EDC control unit (Z37) (e.g. incorrect polarity of batteries. Do not separate or plug in connector at EDC control unit (Z37) unless the ignition is switched off. Remove control units at temperatures above +80 °C (drying oven). | ||
| Do not perform any measurements at the contact point of plug connections with unsuitable tools (test probes, ends of wires etc.). This can result in unintentional short circuits and in subsequent contact problems as a result of the formation of contact resistances. Always use the matching test cables from the connection set (201 589 00 99 00) for such measurements. | ||
| When using the socket box, create only the connections described in the test instructions, incorrect connections can destroy the control unit or the sensors. | ||
| Do not use a quick-charger for starting the engine (jump-starting aid). Jump-start engine only with separate batteries. | ||
| It is essential to tighten the union nuts at the engine cable harness to the specified tightening torque. | ||
Diesel injection system with electronic diesel control (EDC) diagnosis operational check | For safety reasons - after installing a new control sleeve injection pump, - and after repairs to components of the emergency stop (ELAB, engine brake and constant throttle), if it is possible that further faults exist at the EDC system, an operational check must be carried out with the HHT (menu "Actuations") before starting the engine.
| Cables, plug connections and fuses are also covered by the test. It may be necessary to carry out further individual tests together with the applicable wiring diagram in order to determine the exact point (wiring harness / cable / plug connection) of a fault source (open circuit, short to ground, poor contact etc.). | ||
