Danger

Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC)

Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.

AS00.00-Z-0035-01A

Danger

Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC.

No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

1

Disconnect diagnostic unit

Only if a diagnostic unit is connected.

Observe the following work procedure at all times.
Otherwise, the BDU protection switches will be damaged and must be replaced.

2

Switch on ignition for approx. 10 s

Wait until the BDU protection audibly switches.

3

Switch off ignition and wait approx. 3 s

4

Switch on ignition and then switch it off again straight away

The process must take place without any delay within 0.5 s. The transmitter key in the EIS control unit must be turned in one movement through positions 0-1-2-1-0.

5

Remove transmitter key from EIS control unit

6

Release quick-release fastener (2) on cover (3), pull cover (3) slightly outwards away from driver seat frame (1) then pull in direction of arrow out of supports on driver seat frame (1)

7

Release clamp screw (4) and remove ground line (5) from negative pole of battery (G1)

Disconnect ground line (5) of battery (G1) at the earliest 1 minutes after switching off ignition.
Otherwise, the battery management system may malfunction.

Connecting

8

Connect ground line (5) to negative pole of battery (G1) and tighten clamp screw (4)
