1 | Remove trim panel (9) on right cylinder head cover | ||
2 | Remove screw/bolts (15, 16) and detach shield (11) | Bolt, heat shield to bracket | |
Bolt, heat shield to exhaust collector pipe | |||
3 | Remove clamp (12) | Installation: Push wire mesh ring (14) upward onto exhaust pipe (13) and thread in clamp (12). Position exhaust pipe of catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter (1) and push back wire mesh ring (14). | |

4 | Disconnect oxygen sensor connector (B85/3x1) | ||
5 | Remove exhaust gas recirculation | ||
6 | Remove screw/bolts (2, 4) and bracket (3) | Installation: Screw exhaust pipe on catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter (1) to bracket (3) with screw/bolt (2) and then tighten bracket (3) to cylinder head with screw/bolts (4). Tighten screw/bolts (2) fully. | |

9 | Remove retaining clamp (7) from bracket (6) and remove pressure lines (8) | ||
10 | Lift/jack up vehicle | ||
11 | Remove engine crossmember at rear | ||
12 | Expose electrical line (19) on temperature sensor upstream of diesel particulate filter (B19/19) | Installation: Ensure that electrical line (19) is routed correctly. | |
13 | Unclip electrical connection (17) from bracket (18) and disconnect | ||
14 | Detach clamp (21) from catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter (1) | Clamp, catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter to muffler | |
15 | Remove tensioning strap (20) from catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter (1) | Bolt, tensioning strap securing catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter to bracket | |
16 | Remove screw/bolts (22) from transmission and bracket (23) | Bolt, bracket securing catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter to transmission | |
17 | Pull out catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter (1) toward rear | | |
18 | Remove oxygen sensor (B85/3) | Only when replacing catalytic converter with diesel particulate filter (1). | |
Installation: Coat thread of oxygen sensor (B85/3) with hot lubrication paste. | |||
