Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove

Turn steering gear(4) into center position (front wheels in straight-ahead position) and fix steering wheel in place using holding device.

Remove cap from expansion reservoir of power steering system.

Extract hydraulic fluid from expansion reservoir of power steering system.

Remove front axle transmission.

Remove front wheels.

Remove tie rods on left and right side of vehicle from steering knuckles.

Remove stabilizer bar.

Remove sheet metal(1).

Remove steering coupling from steering gear(4).

Remove high-pressure line(3) from steering gear(4), collect escaping hydraulic fluid and seal openings using suitable stop plugs.

Remove return line(2) from steering gear(4), collect escaping hydraulic fluid and seal openings using suitable stop plugs.

 Record plug

Remove threaded connections(5) and remove steering gear(4) to left side of vehicle.

 Aid of helper required.



Install

Position steering gear(4) and tighten threaded connections(5).

 Aid of helper required.

 Observe installation position of washers.

Remove stop plugs from openings and mount return line(2) onto steering gear(4).

 Union nut, return line to steering gear

Remove stop plugs from connections and mount high-pressure line(3) onto steering gear(4).

 Union nut, high-pressure line to steering gear

Attach steering coupling to steering gear (4).

Install sheet metal(1).

Remove holding device from steering wheel.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
