Disconnect front axle distributor plug connector (X62/6 or X62/7)

Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Unscrew brake line from brake hose (39)

 Plug connections immediately.

The brake fluid reservoir must not be allowed to empty completely.

Open double end box wrench, WAF 8x9 mm or WAF 10x11 mm

 Installation: 
The brake hose must not be twisted after tightening.

Remove electronic ignition key and allow steering wheel lock to lock in position.

 The steering wheel must not be turned when the steering coupling is detached, otherwise the clock spring contact will be destroyed.

Remove shield from steering coupling

 Removal: Insert bolt again before prying off the steering coupling.

Detach steering shaft from steering joint (25)

Remove shield (23h) from steering boot

Detach high-pressure expansion hose (30i) and return line (30f) from steering gear

Seal line connections with plugs.

 Installation: Replace sealing rings.

Unscrew bolts (1f) from front axle carrier (1)

 The bolts (1f) are self-tapping, so the following points must be observed:

 Never recut the thread in the longitudinal member

 Replace bolts

 Use only original bolts (4 x)

 When screwing bolts in, do not
position on a slant

 Do not use an impact bolt tightener

 Observe tightening torque



Lower front axle carrier (1), moving out the steering coupling and pushing all hoses to one side

 Removal: Do not use force (blows from a hammer, severe leverage) on steering coupling (25). If necessary, expand clamping groove slightly with a screwdriver.

 Installation: Contact surfaces of front axle carrier to longitudinal member must be cleaned and flat.

Insert locating pins (arrows) at front axle carrier into the holes in the longitudinal member when fitting on.

Check front axle carrier (1) for damage and bending

If necessary after checking: 
