Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.

Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.

Only pour liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Detach selector lever cable (1)

 To do so, detach the selector lever cable (1) from the ball head and pull sideways out of the guide.

 Installation: Grease the ball sockets and ball heads slightly.

Remove selector lever cable (1) from automatic transmission

 To do so, detach the selector lever cable (1) from the bracket, place to one side and tie up.

 Installation: Check and, if necessary, replace the locking plates (arrow).

Remove bolts (3) on propeller shaft intermediate bearing

Remove check strap of propeller shaft

 To do so, remove the bolts (4) from the check strap. Tie the propeller shaft to the vehicle underside.



Remove oil lines for oil cooling of automatic transmission

 To do so, unscrew the nuts (5) and remove the bolts (6).

Remove remaining bolts securing automatic transmission to engine

Remove automatic transmission by moving toward rear and lower

 Secure torque converter to prevent it from falling out. Prevents damage.

Detach transfer case from automatic transmission

 Only with code (ZG2) Permanent all-wheel drive and only if other work is performed on the automatic transmission.



Remove intermediate flange of transfer case at automatic transmission and install at new automatic transmission

 Only with code (ZG2) All-wheel drive, permanent and only when replacing the automatic transmission.


