Removing

Remove pin (93a)

 To do so, break off the plate of the pin (93a) using a suitable tool and remove the pin (93a) remaining in the cap (93) by pressing downward.

Remove cap (93)

Fill

Fill with transmission oil

 When first filling or after an oil change.

 Add approx. 5 l of transmission oil before starting the engine.



Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine

 Shift selector lever to position "P" and allow engine to idle.

Top up with the rest of the specified quantity of oil

 When first filling or after an oil change.

 The vehicle must be horizontal.



Checking

Shift through the driving stages several times with the vehicle stationary and the engine idling

 Operate service brakes at the same time.

Insert oil dipstick into oil filler pipe, pull out again and read off oil level; repeat if necessary

 The vehicle must be horizontal.

 Shift selector lever into position "P".

 The oil dipstick is approx. 80 mm longer than the oil filler pipe.

 When the transmission is cold, the oil level indicator must be between the "min." and "max." marking in the measuring range for 25 °C (A).



Warm up transmission

 The current transmission oil temperature at one of the selector lever positions R, D, 4, 3, 2 and 1 can be read out using STAR DIAGNOSIS.

Check transmission oil level with transmission oil temperature at 80 °C

 If too much transmission oil is added, it is absolutely essential to drain off or extract the surplus. An insufficient or excessive oil quantity causes malfunctions and transmission damage.

 The vehicle must be horizontal.

 Shift selector lever into position "P". Warm up the transmission, wait at least 2 minutes and check the oil level with the engine running.

 The oil dipstick is approx. 80 mm longer than the oil filler pipe.

 When the transmission is warm, the oil level indicator must be between the "min." and "max." marking in the measuring range for 80 °C (B).



 If oil is being lost, determine the cause and rectify (subject to separate repair order).
