Align vehicle between columns of lifting platform and position four support plates at lifting platform support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove underride guard

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Drain coolant

 Only drain off 1 to 2 liters.



Remove upper radiator cross member (5)

 Place upper radiator cross member (5) to the side with hood lock installed.

Detach retaining springs (6) of fan shroud (12)

Insert counterholder on bolts for the viscous fan belt pulley

 Ensure correct seating of the counterholder.



Remove viscous fan clutch (7)

 Loosen center bolt (11) (right-hand thread) using a screwdriver (9) and torque wrench (10).



Lift viscous fan clutch (7) up and out together with fan shroud (12)

 Installation: The retaining tabs (arrows) of the fan shroud must be located in the mounts of the radiator at the side and bottom.

Unscrew fan (8) at viscous fan clutch (7)

 Installation: Installation position of fan (8) is marked by the lug on the fan ring and by the marking "VORNE FRONT" (in direction of travel on fan ring).



Install in the reverse order

Fill cooling system



Replace coolant

Inspecting cooling system for leaks

 If fitting new cylinder head gaskets, bring engine to operating temperature beforehand.
