Remove/install radiator

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Switch off ignition

Open maintenance flap

Remove trim grille

Remove protective grille (18) and brackets (16, 17)

Shim radiator (1) and charge air cooler using the pit lifter

Remove condenser and bracket for refrigerant lines on charge air cooler or radiator (1)

 Only on vehicles with code (H03) Air conditioning in front end.

Do not separate refrigerant lines.

Detach transmission fluid lines (14) at radiator (1)

 Only on vehicles with code (N55) Transmission oil cooling.

Collect steering transmission oil which runs out and seal openings.

Drain coolant at radiator (1)

 Installation: Only tilt cab back after leak test has been conducted.

Remove soundproofing on frame at top left and right

Remove charge air hose, red (7) and charge air hose, black (8)

 Installation: The charge air hose red (7) is temperature-resistant and must always be installed between the charge air cooler () and charge air manifold.



Remove bracket (13) at bottom left of charge air cooler

 Secure radiator (1) to prevent it from tilting.

Remove hydraulic lines (5) to the guide brackets (4) on cab and on engine and bind up to one side

 Only on vehicles with code (GS3) "Hydraulic" gearshift.

Do not disconnect hydraulic lines (2)

Disconnect electrical connector (6) for coolant level switch on expansion reservoir

Remove coolant hoses (3, 9, 10, 11) on radiator (1) and expansion reservoir

 Collect coolant that flows out

Turn oil filler neck (2) at the bayonet connector and pull out.

Detach oil filling line (12) on radiator (1) and bind to the side

Remove fan

Remove bracket (15) at the bottom right of radiator (1)

Lift radiator (1) up and out together with charge air cooler and expansion reservoir

 Installation: Check radiator mounting for damage, replace if required.

Remove charge air cooler and fan shroud on radiator (1)

 Only in the case of a complaint or when replacing the radiator (1) or the charge air cooler.

Install in the reverse order

Check transmission oil level, correct if necessary

 Only on vehicles with code (N55) Transmission oil cooling.

 Installation: Observe oil grade set in maintenance system or Specifications for Operating Fluids.
