Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Drain off coolant.

 Installation: Install bottom engine compartment lining only after the leak test.

Remove exhaust gas turbocharger heat shield (3).

 Screw, support to exhaust gas turbocharger/crankcase

Detach right inerting system line and place to one side.

Remove the catalytic converter.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove screws (1, 2).

 Screw, water feed line/return line to exhaust gas turbocharger/crankcase/cylinder head

Remove coolant feed line (6) and coolant return line (5) from exhaust gas turbocharger (3) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

 Installation: Replace O-rings.

 Record plug

Remove screw (4).

 Screw, water feed line/return line to exhaust gas turbocharger/crankcase/cylinder head

Remove coolant feed line (6) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

 Installation: Replace O-ring.

 Record plug

Install in the reverse order.



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper leaktightness and leaktightness.

Install lower engine compartment lining.
