 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Unscrew cooling system cap at coolant expansion reservoir

 Unscrew cooling system cap slowly and relieve overpressure.

Drain coolant at radiator

Slide drain hose onto fitting (2) on radiator

 The fitting (2) is located at bottom left on the radiator.

Loosen radiator drain screw (1); drain coolant

 Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.

Detach ground line from battery

When draining coolant at right cylinder crankcase drain screw (4) on crankcase

Loosen left or right drain screw (3, 4) at cylinder crankcase until it can be turned manually

Push drain hose on left or right drain screw (3, 4) onto cylinder crankcase

Loosen left or right drain screw (3, 4) on cylinder crankcase further by hand and drain off coolant

 Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.

Pour in

Tighten radiator drain screw (1) and detach drain hose from fitting (2)

Detach drain hose and tighten crankcase drain screw at left and right (3, 4) on cylinder crankcase

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory

After detaching ground line on battery

 Stored faults entries which may have been caused by disconnecting lines or by a simulation must be erased in the fault memory after completing the work.
