Remove engine cover

Remove engine charge air duct downstream of charge air cooler on throttle valve actuator

Unscrew nut (3)

Disconnect electrical connectors (4)

Remove electrical wiring harness (5) and place to one side

 To do this unclip electrical wiring harness (5) at cylinder head cover.

Disconnect electrical connections for glow plugs

Disconnect electrical connection for fuel pressure sensor (B4/6)

Disconnect electrical connector (8)

Disconnect electrical connection (6) for quantity control valve

Place electrical wiring harness of quantity control valve to one side

 Do do this unclip electrical wiring harness from bracket (7).

Unscrew nuts (10)

Take off cover (2)

 Unscrew screw (9) to do this. The cover (2) remains in vehicle.

Remove high-pressure line (1)

 Collect escaping fuel and seal connections.

 Installation: Replace high-pressure line (1).

 Nut, high-pressure line from fuel high-pressure pump to rail to fuel high-pressure pump/rail

Install in the reverse order



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
