Remove/install

Remove rear cover from cylinder head.

Move camshafts to basic position.

Mark off the camshaft positioners with locking pins.

Remove ignition coils.

Remove the rail with fuel injectors of the first, second, third cylinder.

Remove the rail with fuel injectors of the fourth, fifth, sixth cylinder.

Remove full load bleed line.

Remove high-pressure line.

Remove electrical wiring harness from cylinder head cover.

Remove screws (20) and place cable duct (19) to one side.

Release and disconnect electrical connectors at potential distributor (18).

Remove screw (17) and remove potential distributor (18).

Remove ground line from camshaft housing (7).

Remove locating tool from service openings.

Unscrew screws (30) in reverse sequence to the tightening sequence.

Screws (D) must not be loosened.
Otherwise the camshafts will be displaced.

 Installation: Replace screws (30).

Check camshaft housing (7) with camshafts for damage.

Replace camshaft housing (7) with camshafts.

Remove cylinder head cover from camshaft housing (7).

When replacing the camshaft housing  (7).

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head and camshaft housing (7).


Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
Sealing surfaces will otherwise be damaged.

Install in the reverse order.

Check
