Remove/install

Remove Hall sensor of the exhaust camshaft.

Remove Hall sensor of the intake camshaft.

Turn engine in direction of engine rotation to ignition TDC on cylinder 1.

 If the marking (M) is not visible, the piston of cylinder 1 is not at ignition TDC.

Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter.

Remove front noise insulation.

Remove wide open throttle bleed line from oil separator.

Remove rear noise insulation.

Remove screws (60a).


When loosening and tightening the screws (60a), do not damage the fuel high-pressure line.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

Loosen screw (60b).


When loosening and tightening the screw (60b), do not damage the fuel high-pressure line.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

Remove service covers (61).

 Installation:
Check seals are correctly seated.
The seals will otherwise be damaged.

 Installation: Replace seals.



Check

Install locating tool in the service openings to check the basic position of the camshafts.

 The  locating tool must be inserted in the service openings in a disassembled manner.



Set basic position of the camshafts.

Install in the reverse order.
