Removing, installing

Warm engine up to operating temperature

Coolant temperature about 80 °C

Inspect engine oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary

Remove cylinder head cover (1)

Rotate engine at crankshaft until the cam (2) at the valve tappet (3) to be inspected is positioned at its base circle

Lobe of cam should point up

Inspecting

Use thrust tool (1) to press valve tappet (3) by hand (arrow)

Do not use any steel tools.
If the pressure is excessive, the valve tappet appears to drop but in reality the valve opens.

If a valve tappet drops more rapidly in comparison to the others

replace valve tappet.

Once again press new valve tappet (3) by hand thrust tool (1) (arrow)

If one or several of the new valve tappets drop more rapidly in comparison to the others

inspect pressurized oil supply of cylinder head
