Remove ground line from battery.

Remove bracket for the high-pressure line between high-pressure pump and rail.

Remove screw/bolts (11) from cylinder head cover (1) and carefully bend the heat shield (12) in direction of ATL.

Loosen screw/bolts (1s) for cylinder head cover (1) in the reverse order of the tightening procedure and remove them.

Carefully pry off cylinder head cover (1) from cylinder head (2).

Do not hammer in a tool to pry off between cylinder head cover (1) and cylinder head (2).
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

 Use puller screw if necessary.

 Installation: Apply sealant to the cylinder head cover (1) as per the notes on sealant path.

Check slide rail for timing chain on galling and score mark.

If there are galling or score marks in the slide rail:



Replace slide rail.

Check camshaft mounts in the cylinder head cover (1) for galling and score marks.

If there are galling or score marks in the camshaft mounts:

Replace camshaft mounts.

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces at cylinder head (2) and cylinder head cover (1).

The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

Check cooling system for leaks.

Check engine oil level and correct if necessary.
